A Midsummer Night's Dream

Today is the most magical day of the year! The first day of Summer!!! Every year I try to spend most of my day outside to enjoy the beautiful summer sunlight.

Luckily, today I got to go on a class trip to a beach! It was so beautiful:) As a special needs teacher sometimes class trips can be challenging, but today it wasn't, it was amazing! My students had a great time, and so did I:) I even found a fossilized clamshell.

Every midsummer night I always have a glass of wine, go outside, and read until the sun goes down. Then I watch my favourite Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night's Dream (trailer above) on DVD, until I fall asleep.

However, this year to get outside my comfort zone, I decided I would go to a women's summer solstice circle for an evening of energetic healing, sharing, guided meditation, intention setting, and stepping into alignment. About 14 women of all ages met and talked about the earth, we wrote about our goals from the last 6 months, and for the next 6 months, what we were grateful for, and how we could thank mother earth.

These were my answers;

1. Gratitude
My health and the fact that I can move my body freely.

2. Achieved in the last 6 months
Survived the last 6 months with an optimistic happy attitude despite all the things that have happened.

3. Indentations for the next 6 months
Use my yoga teacher training (YTT) to teach in the community :) I can't wait!

4. What I can do to thank mother earth
Grow and eat local food.

So there it is folks! It's in black and white, so I have to teach yoga this fall!

A few other things from the night:
  • To write down things in past tense that I fear, or am nervous about, like they have already happened. So for example, I would write, I teach yoga in the community, I am amazing at it, and people love my class.
  • I need to read "The Desire Map"
  • Even people who think they are being positive and happy can steal your energy, and you can not feel comfortable around them.
  • I need to go dancing barefoot on the beach
