I am a firm believer that what we need finds us; people, things, books, animals, songs... We just need to know both how to receive them, and what to do with what they bring us.
Yesterday I was waiting to meet my friends for supper, and I had a half hour to kill, I thought about reading IPP reports, which quickly left my mind at 4:30pm on a June Friday. Then I remembered I was driving by a Sally Anne. I have gotten some great arts supplies for NSCAD there, so I try to drop in whenever I have the chance.
As someone who gets sensory overload quite easily, the craziness of second hand stores overwhelms me sometimes. And yesterday was no exception, so I went straight to the art supplies, and found nothing:(, and then to the books, because I love books, and I needed a plan! As soon as I started looking at the books one, of my favourite Joni Mitchel songs came on, so I knew there was something I needed to find there! I was in the right place, at the right time, and for a reason!
I ended up getting a few books, one was a first edition copy of my favourite author Margaret Atwood's book of essays, Second Words, which was so exciting for me!!! And I found a cookbook I've been looking for for $3, and a few other great books including the book, 365 Tao Daily Meditations, by Deng Ming-Dao.
I started reading this last night as soon as I got home. It is exactly what I need right now in my life, and I wouldn't have found this and bought it on my own.
The first meditation starts with this;
This is the moment of embarking.
All auspicious signs are in place.
