Kindly Be Online
I have been putting off booking my flight from New Delhi to the city I am staying in in India because I arrive so late at night, that there are no flights until next morning, and I had no idea where I was going to stay for the night. But today I was looking at my calendar and realized I am leaving really soon, so I thought I should book it ASAP. So I went on the Air India site and it was easy enough to book, I even got a flight for $45 Canadian Dollars, which I thought was a sweet deal, and it leaves first thing in the am. However, I totally forgot that I needed to book it for the following day, and booked it for the day I arrive in New Delhi... Sigh! And now I am on hold at 9pm listening to a lady with an Indian accent tell me "Your call is important to us, all our customer service representatives are attending to other customers, kindly be online, or call again later," And I am so tired, which is probably why I made the error in the first place, I thought she said, "kindly go online, or call again later." so I hung up after waiting 15min, and then thought about what she actually said, and called back... and now I am waiting again... So after 25min of waiting, she couldn't hear me on my phone, so I had to hangup and call back again, and now I am waiting again... This is definitely a lesson in patience.
Update: After 5 phone calls to Air India and no phone calls back (of which two were promised), the original flight is cancelled, and a new one is booked for 24h later.
Total cost: 90 Canadian Dollars... so only double what it should have.
Total lessons learned: I will always double read original flights before booking connecting flights, and I still have one more to book, my flight back from where I am staying to New Delhi.
Currently working on letting it go, and laughing about it.
Is June over yet?
